Santorini
Santorini is the aftermath of a cataclysm turned into one of the world's most beautiful views. The volcanic caldera's cliffs, stacked with whitewashed villages and blue domes, drop three hundred metres into a sea that seems lit from below. No sunset on earth is more photographed, and few deserve it more.

The capital combines caldera-edge hotels with the island's widest choice of restaurants, bars and shopping.
Dining & nightlife
Santorini's kitchens make heroes of the volcanic terroir — fava, white aubergine, cherry tomatoes — alongside pristine seafood and Assyrtiko wines tasted at cliff-top wineries. Evenings are about long caldera-view dinners and low-lit wine bars rather than clubbing, which the island largely leaves to Mykonos.
Travelling as a family
Santorini suits families with older children who can handle steps and cliff paths; the black-sand beaches of Kamari and Perissa offer easier seaside days. Many caldera hotels are adults-oriented, so check policies before booking.
Travelling as a couple
This is one of the world's great honeymoon islands: private plunge pools above the caldera, catamaran cruises to the hot springs and sunset dinners that need no embellishment. Book Oia and Imerovigli suites months ahead for the summer season.
