A plain-English explanation of how Browntravels makes money from hotel partnerships and advertising, and how that is kept separate from editorial judgement.
Last updated 1 July 2026
Browntravels is funded in part by commercial relationships with hotels. We believe readers are entitled to know exactly what those relationships are, where they appear on the site and — most importantly — where they stop. This page sets that out in plain English.
Some of our verified stays are hosted or discounted by the hotel. When that is the case, we disclose it on the page for the relevant review, so you can weigh it for yourself.
A hosted stay never comes with any guarantee of coverage, a favourable review or a particular score, and hotels do not see or approve our reviews before publication. Our editors write exactly what they would have written had they paid the full rate.
Hotels can pay for promotional placements on Browntravels — for example featured positions or partnership showcases. Every paid placement is labelled 'Sponsored' clearly and visibly wherever it appears, so it can never be mistaken for independent editorial content.
Sponsored placements are sold and produced separately from the editorial team, and advertising never silently influences our independent rankings, scores or reviews. If a hotel appears in a ranking, it earned its place on merit; if it appears in a sponsored slot, the label tells you so.
Browntravels offers paid packages to hotels that want enhanced presence on the platform, such as richer profile features or promotional visibility. Prices are quoted in pounds sterling, and details are available to hotels on request via hello@browntravels.com.
What paid packages never include is editorial influence. No package changes a hotel's score, its position in independent rankings or the substance of what our editors write. That line is absolute.
Some figures shown on the platform — particularly in partner-facing areas — may be demonstration or estimated data rather than live measurements. We label the status of such figures through a data-status system, so it is always clear whether a metric is live, estimated or shown for demonstration purposes.
We never present demo or estimated figures as verified performance data, to readers or to hotel partners.
If anything about how we work with hotels is unclear, or if you believe a piece of commercial content is not adequately labelled, tell us at hello@browntravels.com. We treat labelling failures as errors and correct them under our Corrections Policy.
