Capella Bangkok solved the puzzle of building a resort inside a megacity. Set low along the Chao Phraya on the site of an old East Asiatic trading company, its entire inventory—rooms, suites and a rare run of villas with plunge pools—faces the river, so the city's chaos recedes behind a screen of water traffic, frangipani and lawn.
Interiors thread Thai craft through a calmly contemporary frame: silk panels, bronze inlay, deep terrazzo tubs positioned for sunset. The service culture, built around dedicated 'Capella Culturists', is among the most anticipatory in Asia, arranging everything from canal tours by private boat to street-food safaris with real insider fluency.
Gastronomy elevates the whole proposition, led by a garlanded Mediterranean-Asian fine-dining room and a riverside Thai restaurant of unusual refinement, with breakfast on the terrace one of Bangkok's quiet pleasures.
