Hilton Port Moresby

Built as the centrepiece of the Star Mountain Plaza precinct ahead of Papua New Guinea's hosting of APEC in 2018, the Hilton brought the country its first truly international-brand five-star. The architecture nods to PNG tradition—the porte cochère evokes a Sepik haus tambaran—while the interiors run to polished stone, timber screens and artwork drawn from the nation's five hundred cultures.

Rooms are the most consistent in the capital: quiet, cool and carefully finished, with sweeping views over Waigani towards the coast and hills.
