Ljubljana, Slovenia — Europe
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
The Slovenian capital's tallest hotel, a glass slab with castle-view rooms, a 20th-floor restaurant and a top-floor pool over the Alps.
The InterContinental gave Ljubljana its first international-luxury tower when it opened in 2017: a slim glass high-rise by the railway station, ten minutes' walk from Prešeren Square and the willow-hung embankments of the old town. In a low-rise city its height is the asset—upper rooms frame the castle on its wooded hill with the Kamnik-Savinja Alps behind, and on clear days the view alone justifies the address.
Rooms are quiet, generous and internationally styled in soft greys and walnut, with floor-to-ceiling glass doing the decorating; club floors add lounge privileges that suit the business clientele the hotel serves smoothly. The top floors hold the public showpieces: a 20th-floor restaurant of Slovenian-accented modern European cooking, and a spa whose indoor pool looks straight at the Alps—swimming towards Triglav's weather is the hotel's signature moment.
The location trades old-town romance for practicality, though the centre's cafés, the Dragon Bridge and Plečnik's riverfront are an easy stroll. As a comfortable, view-blessed base for the capital—and for day trips to Bled, the karst caves and the coast—it is Ljubljana's most complete conventional five-star.
Around 165 rooms and suites in soft greys and walnut behind floor-to-ceiling glass; higher castle-side floors are the prize.
A 20th-floor restaurant of modern European cooking with Slovenian accents, plus a lobby lounge and bar.
A top-floor spa with indoor pool facing the Alps, saunas, gym and treatment rooms.
The Browntravels Verdict
Ljubljana's tower of views—polished international comfort with the castle and Alps filling the glass.
