Maritim Hotel Plaza Tirana

The Plaza was among the first towers to redraw Tirana's skyline, a sleek glass high-rise designed with crisp contemporary intent just off Skanderbeg Square, and under the German Maritim flag it runs to disciplined European standards. Its card is altitude and location in combination: rooms begin above the rooftops and climb high enough that the upper categories take in the whole theatre of the capital—the square's vast paving, the minaret of the Et'hem Bey Mosque, the pyramid's rebuilt slopes, and Mount Dajti walling the east.

Interiors are business-modern in dark wood and cream, quiet and well maintained, with suites adding corner glazing that turns the city into wallpaper. The panoramic restaurant and bar near the top serve international and Albanian dishes to a view few Balkan capitals can match, and a small spa with sauna, whirlpool and gym covers weekday routines. Skanderbeg Square, the bazaar at Pazari i Ri and the museums are all within ten minutes on foot, with Blloku slightly further. Atmosphere is efficient rather than expressive, but for view, position and German-run order at Albanian prices, the Plaza remains one of Tirana's smartest bookings.
