Florence, Italy — Europe
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
The Ferragamo family's all-suite riverside address, gazing straight at the Ponte Vecchio with the feel of a private Florentine apartment.
Portrait Firenze belongs to the Lungarno Collection, the hotel arm of the Ferragamo family, and it shows in every stitched-leather drawer pull and tailored grey interior. The building stands on the Arno's north bank literally beside the Ponte Vecchio, so the celebrated bridge fills the windows of the river-facing suites at almost touching distance. With only a few dozen keys, the property runs less like a hotel than a collection of serviced pieds-à-terre above the goldsmiths' quarter.
Every unit is a suite in effect, with kitchenettes or pantries, generous wardrobes and studio-style living spaces designed by Michele Bönan in 1950s-inflected greys, chrome and leather. The lifestyle team—Portrait's reinterpretation of a concierge—arranges everything from artisan-studio visits to after-hours gallery access, and the ground-floor Caffè dell'Oro keeps a front-row river terrace for breakfast through aperitivo.
What Portrait trades away is resort infrastructure: there is no spa or pool, and public spaces are intentionally minimal. In exchange guests get privacy, position and a level of personalisation that larger Florentine five-stars struggle to match. For couples focused on the city itself, it is quietly the best address on the river.
Around 37 suites and studios in Michele Bönan's tailored grey-and-leather palette, the finest facing the Arno and Ponte Vecchio.
Caffè dell'Oro serves Italian classics from breakfast to dinner on a terrace directly over the river.
In-suite treatments on request and a small fitness space; no dedicated spa.
The Browntravels Verdict
Florence's most refined boutique stay—choose it for river views and residential ease rather than full-service resort trimmings.
