Caracas, Venezuela — South America
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A design-conscious Marriott flag on Plaza La Castellana, the livelier and more contemporary of the capital's international hotels.
The Renaissance brings the more playful side of the Marriott portfolio to Caracas, overlooking Plaza La Castellana in one of the city's most walkable and cosmopolitan pockets. Where its JW sibling is corporate-classic, the Renaissance leans contemporary: a lobby of bold Venezuelan art and sculptural lighting, a social bar scene and interiors that acknowledge the design heritage of a city that once led Latin American modernism.
Rooms are crisp and current, with dark timber, strong colour accents and marble bathrooms; club floors add lounge access, and the best upper rooms look towards the Ávila's ridgeline. The rooftop pool terrace, compact but sociable, catches afternoon sun above the plaza, and the gym runs long hours for the business clientele.
Food and drink are a genuine strength for the category: the hotel's restaurants and bar move from Venezuelan-Mediterranean menus to well-made cocktails, and the surrounding blocks of La Castellana and Los Palos Grandes hold many of the capital's best independent tables within walking range—a rarity in this car-bound city. For visitors who want international reliability with more energy and design than the standard corporate tower, this is the Caracas pick.
Around 210 rooms and suites in crisp contemporary style with bold accents; upper floors face the Ávila ridge.
Venezuelan-Mediterranean restaurants and a cocktail-forward lobby bar, with La Castellana's independent scene on foot.
A rooftop pool terrace and long-hours fitness centre.
The Browntravels Verdict
The contemporary choice in Caracas—design, cocktails and a walkable plaza address.
