Kabul, Afghanistan — Asia
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A glass tower above the Kabul City Centre mall in Shahr-e-Naw, offering apartment-style suites and city views in the capital's commercial heart.
The Safi Landmark occupies the upper floors of the Kabul City Centre complex, the glass-fronted shopping mall that brought a flash of Dubai to the Shahr-e-Naw commercial district when it opened in the mid-2000s. Run by the Safi family's hospitality group, it has operated through the capital's changing fortunes as one of the few private hotels maintaining something close to international business standards, and its mid-rise glass profile remains a recognisable piece of the modern Kabul skyline.
The format leans practical: rooms and apartment-style suites with kitchenettes suit the long-stay pattern of Kabul's organisational visitors, and upper floors carry wide views over the city's low sprawl to the encircling mountains. Furnishings are business-functional and maintenance variable, but housekeeping is regular, the restaurant serves dependable Afghan and continental dishes, and the rooftop-level views at dusk—when the mountains turn violet over the city—have their own austere beauty.
As everywhere in Kabul, security dominates practical planning. The mall complex operates screening at its entrances, most governments advise against travel to Afghanistan, and conditions require constant reassessment. Within those constraints, the Safi Landmark serves its niche: a central, privately run base with suite space and city views, at rates well below the Serena, for the specialist travellers whose work keeps them in the capital.
Around 100 rooms and kitchenette-equipped suites in functional business style; upper floors gain wide mountain-ringed city views.
A restaurant of Afghan and continental staples with room service for long-stay guests.
Basic gym and sauna facilities within the complex.
The Browntravels Verdict
The practical private-sector base in central Kabul—suite space and city views for those whose work requires them.
