Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A 1920s grain silo reborn above the Zeitz MOCAA museum, its pillowed glass windows framing Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront.
The Silo crowns the historic grain elevator that Thomas Heatherwick carved into the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, and its architecture is unforgettable from the first glance: faceted 'pillowed' glass windows bulge from the concrete shell like cut gemstones, refracting Table Mountain, the harbour and the city bowl from every room.
Inside, The Royal Portfolio's maximalist signature answers the industrial frame with saturated colour, Murano chandeliers and a serious African contemporary art collection that begins in the lobby and continues into every suite. Rooms are soaring—six-metre windows dominate—and the rooftop pool deck delivers what may be urban Africa's finest panorama, from Lion's Head to Robben Island.
Being upstairs from MOCAA gives guests privileged access to the continent's leading contemporary collection, while the V&A Waterfront's restaurants and boat piers wait at the door. The hotel's own dining runs from a glamorous sixth-floor room to rooftop sundowners. Warm, personality-forward service rounds out a stay that is as much cultural immersion as accommodation.
28 art-filled rooms and suites with double-height faceted windows; upper-floor suites add sweeping Table Mountain and Atlantic views.
The Granary Café's sixth-floor glamour, rooftop bar sundowners and access to the V&A Waterfront's restaurant scene below.
A boutique spa and gym within the silo structure, plus the rooftop pool deck—compact facilities elevated by extraordinary views.
The Browntravels Verdict
Cape Town's boldest hotel: industrial heritage, contemporary art and Table Mountain theatre stacked into one unrepeatable building.
