The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel

The Tasman gave Hobart its first true luxury flag when it opened in late 2021, and it did so by embracing the city's layered fabric rather than building over it. The hotel occupies three connected eras—1840s Georgian sandstone, a 1930s Art Deco block and a new glass pavilion—on Parliament Square, a minute from the harbour and Salamanca Place. Throughout, Tasmanian art and materials keep the sense of place strong, in keeping with the Luxury Collection's storytelling brief.

Peppina, the Italian restaurant from Tasmanian chef Massimo Mele, has become one of the city's most liked tables, marrying Italian family cooking with the island's producers, while Mary Mary pours cocktails in a moody sandstone-walled bar. With the Salamanca market, the harbour ferries to MONA and the mountain all within easy reach, The Tasman is the natural first choice for a polished Hobart stay.
