The Thief

The Thief takes its name from Tjuvholmen—'thief islet'—the once-disreputable harbour spit that Oslo transformed into its gallery-lined waterfront quarter. The hotel stands at the district's tip beside the Astrup Fearnley Museum of contemporary art, whose Renzo Piano-designed glass sails curve along the fjord a few metres away, and the association is more than geographic: original works by artists including Andy Warhol and Julian Opie hang through the hotel's public spaces and rooms.

Interiors are dark, plush and cinematic—bronze tones, statement lighting, deep textiles—an intentional counterpoint to Nordic paleness.
