Lake Bled

Lake Bled arranges its elements almost too perfectly: a teardrop island church, a medieval castle on a cliff and the Julian Alps behind emerald water. When to visit

June to September is prime for swimming, rowing and hiking, with July and August the busiest weeks on the lakefront. Autumn colours and spring meltwater suit photographers, while winter brings occasional snow-dusted postcard scenes and a quiet, affordable off-season.

Alpine-influenced climate with warm summers and cold winters; the lake is swimmable in high summer and mist often lifts to clear mornings.
