The neighbouring Lake Bohinj — larger, wilder and startlingly undeveloped — is the connoisseur's counterpart to Bled, best visited with a picnic from a Radovljica delicatessen and no fixed schedule.

Bled's postcard is earned in an hour. The region behind it deserves a week.
