Val d'Isère, France — Europe
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
Airelles' 2020-opened palace at the foot of Val d'Isère's slopes, bringing the group's theatrical service culture to one of the Alps' most serious ski resorts.
Val d'Isère has always been a skier's resort first—high, snow-sure and linked with Tignes into the vast Espace Killy—and for years it lacked a hotel to match its terrain's ambition. Airelles answered in December 2020 with Mademoiselle, a palace-scale property at the foot of the slopes styled as an eighteenth-century alpine mansion, complete with the group's signature painted woodwork, costume-uniformed staff and elaborate guest theatrics.
Rooms and suites layer carved timber, toile and rich fabrics with modern engineering; many face the mountainside, and the ski room delivers guests more or less straight onto the snow. As at the group's Courchevel flagship, children are treated as principal guests, with a dedicated kids' world elaborate enough to complicate departures.
Dining spans refined French tables and generous alpine cooking, with a Viennese-style café for afternoon pastries, while the enormous spa—pool, slides, snow cave and treatment suites—works for both hard-skiing recovery and family afternoons. For skiers who want Airelles pageantry attached to genuinely world-class terrain, Mademoiselle completes the picture.
Around 40 rooms and suites plus private apartments in carved timber and toile, many facing the slopes of Bellevarde.
Refined French dining, hearty Savoyard tables and a Viennese-style café for pastries after the last run.
An expansive spa with swimming pool, water slides, snow cave, hammam and treatments for adults and children.
The Browntravels Verdict
The Espace Killy finally has its palace—Airelles theatre backed by some of the best skiing in the world.
