Atlantis The Royal

Rising from the crest of Palm Jumeirah like a stack of glass containers caught mid-shuffle, Atlantis The Royal is Dubai's most architecturally ambitious resort. Kohn Pedersen Fox's design trades the emirate's usual towers for a porous grid of blocks threaded with elevated pools and gardens, so light and sea breeze pass straight through the building. The effect is theatrical without being kitsch, and genuinely unlike anything else on the Palm.

Inside, the scale keeps escalating: a lobby anchored by monumental water-and-fire sculpture, corridors lined with commissioned art, and an infinity sky pool cantilevered twenty-two floors above the Gulf. Rooms are generously cut and calmly finished in bronze, cream and walnut, letting the floor-to-ceiling views of the Dubai skyline or open sea do most of the talking. Service is polished, brisk and unfailingly cheerful.

Dining is the resort's real flex, with outposts from globally famous chefs spanning Mediterranean, Cantonese and modern grill cooking, plus a poolside scene that hums from noon to midnight. Families get their own beach and easy access to the original Atlantis waterpark next door, while adults can retreat to quieter terraces. It is maximal Dubai, executed with unusual discipline.
