Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A Belle Époque palace in four hectares of gardens on Lake Geneva's Ouchy shore, home to Anne-Sophie Pic's celebrated Lausanne outpost.
The Beau-Rivage Palace has stood on the Ouchy lakefront since 1861, expanded in 1908 into the great Belle Époque composition that faces the French Alps across Lake Geneva today. History has repeatedly chosen its salons: the Treaty of Lausanne was signed here in 1923, and the hotel's guest registers read like a century of diplomacy, music and letters.
Four hectares of private gardens separate the palace from the lake promenade, an extraordinary luxury this close to a city centre, and the metro glides guests up to Lausanne's old town in minutes. Rooms balance classical proportions with contemporary restraint, the best opening onto balconies with the full sweep of lake and mountains. The Cinq Mondes spa, with indoor-outdoor pools among the trees, is among Switzerland's finest city-adjacent wellness spaces.
Gastronomy elevates the whole: Anne-Sophie Pic's restaurant brings one of France's most decorated chefs to the lakeshore, alongside a classic brasserie-style room and summer terraces. Olympic Lausanne, Lavaux's terraced vineyards and lake steamers to Evian and Montreux all lie at the doorstep. The Beau-Rivage remains the standard by which Swiss Riviera hotels are measured.
Around 170 rooms and suites blending Belle Époque bones with calm contemporary interiors, the finest facing the lake and Alps.
Anne-Sophie Pic's haute-cuisine flagship, a classic lakeside brasserie and garden terraces for summer lunches.
The Cinq Mondes spa with indoor and outdoor pools set in the gardens, saunas and an extensive treatment menu.
The Browntravels Verdict
Switzerland's most complete lakeside palace — history, gardens, spa and a genuinely great table in one.
