Èze, France — Europe
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A private peninsula estate at Èze-Bord-de-Mer with two hectares of gardens, a seawater infinity pool and only a few dozen keys.
Cap Estel enjoys a situation that even the Riviera's greatest names cannot copy: an entire private peninsula at the foot of Èze, ringed by the sea on three sides, with terraced gardens running down to the water. Built as a Belle Époque villa for a Russian aristocrat, the estate spent decades as a discreet retreat for film stars before its renovation into today's small luxury hotel.
With around 28 rooms and suites—many effectively apartments with kitchens and broad sea-view terraces—the property operates at a scale that keeps occupancy low and privacy high. Lawns, palms and a spectacular seawater infinity pool seem to float above the Mediterranean, and a second indoor pool serves cooler months. The perched village of Èze and its cactus gardens hang on the cliff directly above.
The restaurant has earned Michelin recognition for elegant Mediterranean cooking served on a terrace over the water, and half-board arrangements make the estate easy to never leave. Monaco is ten minutes east and Nice twenty west, but the entire point of Cap Estel is that both begin to feel unnecessary.
Around 28 rooms, suites and apartments across the villa and garden buildings, most with generous terraces directly over the sea.
An elegant Mediterranean restaurant with Michelin recognition, served on a terrace above the water, with flexible half-board dining.
A spa with indoor pool, sauna and treatment rooms, complementing the show-stopping outdoor seawater infinity pool.
The Browntravels Verdict
The Riviera's best-kept private peninsula—choose it when seclusion outranks scene.
