Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A contemporary suite resort between rainforest hills and a calm southern bay, long Antigua's stylish answer for design-minded families.
Carlisle Bay brought a different register to Antigua when it opened in the 2000s: where the island's classics leaned chintz and colonial, this southern-coast resort chose contemporary calm—white façades, dark timber, interiors by Mary Fox Linton in creams and taupes that still feel current. The setting does the colour instead: a sheltered bay of milky-turquoise water backed by some of Antigua's greenest rainforest hills, with the resort's suites arranged along the sand between them.
All accommodation is suite-sized, from beachfront units steps off the sand to family-friendly configurations with kitchens and connecting layouts, and the resort's balance is its skill. Children are genuinely provided for—the Cool Kids club, a dedicated teens' games room, a crèche and calm swimming—yet the design sensibility, the Blue Spa and the tucked-away adult corners keep the atmosphere far from a family factory.
Facilities run deeper than the room count suggests: tennis with a resident pro, a screening room, yoga pavilion in the rainforest, water sports off the beach and several restaurants spanning Asian-accented fine dining, Italian and beach grills. English Harbour and Shirley Heights' Sunday party are fifteen minutes east. For families who care about design—or couples who don't mind well-behaved company—Carlisle Bay remains Antigua's most complete package.
Around 87 suites in creams, taupes and dark timber along the beach and gardens, from ocean-front pairs to family layouts.
Asian-accented fine dining, Italian and beachfront grills, with juice bars and afternoon tea filling the gaps.
The Blue Spa, rainforest yoga pavilion, tennis courts and complimentary non-motorised water sports.
The Browntravels Verdict
Antigua's design-led all-rounder—contemporary style, serious facilities and a bay that keeps every generation happy.
