Imerovigli, Greece — Europe
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
An intimate white-on-white retreat at Imerovigli, the highest point of Santorini's caldera rim, built around one of the island's most photographed pools.
Grace sits at Imerovigli, the loftiest village on Santorini's caldera rim, which gives its terraces the island's fullest sweep: the volcanic islets below, Oia to the north and sunsets that fall directly into the frame. The hotel's champagne-tinted infinity pool, cantilevered over the caldera, became one of Greece's defining travel images and remains the property's gravitational centre.
With only a small collection of rooms, suites and villas cut into the cliff in smoothed white plaster, the scale stays intimate—more private clifftop villa than resort. Interiors keep the Cycladic vocabulary minimal and textural, with sunken tubs, private plunge pools in upper categories and terraces engineered for the view. Under Auberge stewardship, service has taken on a polished, itinerary-shaping character.
Evenings revolve around the champagne lounge and a Greek-modern dining room that turns the sunset hour into theatre; days are for the pool, in-suite breakfasts and walks along the rim path that links Imerovigli to Fira and on to Oia. Steps are everywhere, as on all caldera properties, and the hotel's smallness means booking far ahead. For couples, it is Santorini distilled.
Around 20 rooms, suites and a villa carved into the caldera cliff in white plaster, with sunken tubs, terraces and plunge pools in upper categories.
A Greek-contemporary restaurant and champagne lounge oriented to the sunset, with in-suite breakfasts served on caldera terraces.
A small treatment room programme and yoga on the terraces; the infinity pool and caldera air do the heavier restorative work.
The Browntravels Verdict
Santorini's most photogenic hideaway—book it for the pool, the altitude and the sunset, well in advance.
