North Malé Atoll, Maldives — Indian Ocean
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A large, glamorous private island in North Malé Atoll with twelve beaches, vast villas and a social scene unique in the Maldives.
Most Maldivian islands are dots; Reethi Rah is an estate. Its six kilometres of coastline curl into twelve distinct beaches, letting the resort spread its villas so generously that even at full occupancy the island feels privately owned. This is the glamorous end of the Maldives—a see-and-be-seen crowd in high season—but the scale means seclusion is always one curve of sand away.
Villas are among the country's largest, whether beachfront compounds with walled gardens and pools or overwater retreats strung along a curving jetty. Interiors favour crisp naturals with driftwood and thatch texture. Families are courted as seriously as honeymooners, with one of the Indian Ocean's best kids' clubs and a teens-only hangout, yet adult zones keep the romance intact.
The island's energy peaks around its beach clubs and considerable dining spread, from Japanese robata to Mediterranean tables in the sand. Watersports run from kite-surfing to superb house-reef snorkelling, and the spa's overwater pavilions handle recovery. A 45-minute yacht transfer from Malé keeps arrival simple. For travellers who want their desert island with polish and pulse, Reethi Rah stands alone.
Around 122 beach and overwater villas, all vast, many with private pools and walled gardens; grand beach villas suit multigenerational stays.
A dozen venues spanning Japanese robata, Mediterranean beach clubs, and long-table feasts in the sand, plus destination dining on private sandbanks.
An overwater spa with extensive rituals, a serious fitness campus, yoga pavilions and kite-surfing among the atoll's best watersports.
The Browntravels Verdict
The Maldives at its most expansive and glamorous—ideal for families and couples who want energy as well as escape.
