Malolo Island, Fiji — Oceania
Editorial research. Profiled through in-depth editorial research; Browntravels has not yet stayed at this property. How we review
A solar-powered pool-villa resort on Malolo Island in the Mamanucas, bringing Six Senses' wellness and sustainability playbook to Fiji.
Six Senses chose the Mamanuca archipelago—Fiji's sunniest, most accessible island chain—for its 2018 debut in the country, settling on a sheltered bay at Malolo Island an easy boat ride from Nadi. The resort runs almost entirely on one of the Southern Hemisphere's larger off-grid solar installations, backed by rainwater capture and a plastic-conscious operation, making its sustainability claims unusually concrete for the region.
Accommodation is all pool villas and larger residences, dressed in a breezy Fijian-contemporary style of thatch, timber and stone, strung along the beach and hillside. The Six Senses formula translates well to Fiji's natural warmth: the kids' club and family residences make it one of the country's strongest luxury family options, while the adult tempo revolves around the surf breaks of the outer Mamanucas—including the famous Cloudbreak within boat reach—alongside diving, sailing and lagoon days.
Wellness is the other pillar, with a spa village offering Fijian-influenced therapies, resident practitioners and the brand's screening-led programmes, supported by an organic garden that feeds the restaurants' farm-to-table menus. It lacks the raw remoteness of Fiji's far-flung private islands, but as a polished, purposeful base in the Mamanucas it leads its class.
24 pool villas plus multi-bedroom residences in thatch and timber along beach and hillside, all with private pools and decks.
Farm-to-table restaurants drawing on the resort's organic gardens, a beach club grill and a rum-and-cocktail bar.
A Six Senses spa village with Fijian therapies, resident specialists, yoga pavilions and personalised wellness screening.
The Browntravels Verdict
Fiji's best blend of wellness, sustainability and family polish—an easy boat ride from Nadi rather than a remote expedition.
