Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island, which opened in early 2024, occupies an entire coral island ringed by a lagoon and reef, south of the main island of Mahé and reached by light aircraft. The resort arranges a limited collection of villas — each with its own pool, each steps from the sand — along the island's beaches, with dining spread across multiple venues in a setting where 'restaurant choice' once meant whatever the boat brought in. The register is a deliberate paradox: barefoot isolation delivered with the ceremonial polish of a brand whose name still evokes Park Avenue. It works because the scale stays intimate; even at capacity, the island feels close to empty.

The light-aircraft transfer from Mahé is short and scenic, and most itineraries pair the island with a night or two on Mahé or Praslin at either end. Book the calmer-season months for the clearest lagoon conditions, pack for barefoot informality — the dress code ends at the airstrip — and accept the island's core proposition without resistance: there is nowhere to go, and that is the entire point.
